This is one of the articles in a book I have written on spirituality. The book is available on Amazon.com.
My Humble Understanding Of Spirituality
=================================================
- The
only Reality is the Absolute Truth or Consciousness or Brahman.
- It
is only due to ignorance of the Reality that this diverse world of objects
is experienced.
- Our
true Self is Brahman or Absolute Bliss.
- We
can attain Brahman by giving up identification with the ego.
- Ego
can be given up only by attaining knowledge of the True Self and this is
Jnana Yoga or Path of Knowledge.
- On
a day to day basis, ego can be removed by working for a common cause
without any selfish desires. This is the path of action or Karma Yoga.
- It
is absolutely essential to submerge the ego by being grateful for what the
Universe has given us. This attitude of gratitude is the path of devotion
or Bhakti Yoga.
- We
attain multiple births and deaths for the sole reason of fulfilling the
myriad of desires accumulated over several births.
- Desires
can never be given up, but the lower desires can be replaced by higher
desires aimed at helping humanity.
- The body and sense organs are just tools to enable us to experience the world. The mind is an organ always focused on the outside world. Only when the intellect sharpened by spiritual knowledge controls the mind, our focus shifts to the internal, everlasting bliss.
- As readers may be aware, 3 of my books on spirituality are available on Amazon.com.
I invite readers of my blog to try any of the books and give me feedback so that I can make changes in the next edition.
